  2. Firearm Mechanics

Like most first person shooters, the basic gunplay in Battlefield Hardline is relatively easy to understand, although there are special mechanics only available to the Battlefield series. If you are new to the genre, or you want to take a refresher course, this is the place for you!

    Fire Modes

Many weapons in Battlefield Hardline have selective Fire Modes. This allows a weapon to change how it operates by the press of a button.

Full-Auto: Hold the trigger down for continuous fire.
Semi-Auto: Pulling the trigger fires one round at a time.
Burst Fire: Pulling the trigger fires two to three rounds at a time.
Bolt/Pump Action: Pull the trigger to fire one round, then wait for a bolt or pump action to load another cartridge.
Single Shot: You must reload after each shot is fired.
Assault Rifles, Carbines, Submachine Guns, and Personal Defense Weapons usually have the ability to switch between Full-Auto and Semi-Auto. Some even have the option for two round or three round bursts. All you have to do is click DOWN on the D-PAD for consoles or the V key on PC to switch between the different fire modes.

Semi Auto fire is best when engaging a target at a distance, Full Auto fire is best when engaging a target in close quarters, and Burst fire is best when engaging a target at medium range.

    Reloads and Magazines

Reloading is another simple concept. When you need more ammo for your weapon, you reload a new magazine. Battlefield Hardline allows all the bullets to jump from magazine to magazine, so you never have to worry about wasting a magazine that is not completely emptied.

If you do empty your magazine, you must chamber another round in your weapon, which may increase the time of the reload. If your magazine is not emptied, the reload time will be shorter, and you will have an extra round in the chamber of your weapon. This is known as a Tactical Reload.

If you still don't understand, here is a quick example:

Say your weapon has 30 round magazines, and you have 120 rounds extra. You will always start out with an extra round in your chamber for the weapons that support this option.
    Your starting ammo is 31/124
You fire your weapon and it becomes 25/124
You reload to make it 31/118
You fire your weapon and it becomes 0/118
You reload to make it 30/88
    Weapon Attachments

Battlefield Hardline has a large number of attachments and accessories for each weapon. These are special modifications you can make to your firearm to suit it for different situations. You may want long range scopes when engaging enemies far away, or you may want attachments that increase hip fire if in a close quarters situation.

The attachments are split up into three sections: Optics, Accessories, Muzzle, and Grip. Weapon attachments are unlocked after purchasing them for that particular weapon and through Battlepacks. See each Weapon's page in this wiki for a full list of available attachments.

    Bullet Travel and Bullet Drop

Bullet Travel and Bullet Drop are very important aspects when playing on the big maps of Battlefield Hardline. Each bullet must travel through time and space to reach its target. If you're right next to the enemy, or if the enemy is close enough and running directly towards you, you won't need to compensate for the distance. Just aim at the target and shoot. If, however, the target is running off in the distance, you will need to adjust your aim to hit the target.

When an enemy is on the move at a distance, you will need to fire in front of the target to hit him. Firing in front of a moving enemy combatant is called "leading the target". The bullet will take a short while to travel from your gun to the enemy agent, and leading the target will give it enough time to reach the enemy.

Bullet Drop is basically the same principle as Bullet Travel and leading your target, but instead of aiming in front of your target (horizontal compensation), you must aim above your target (vertical compensation). The bullet will then drop over the distance and hit the target.

To reach your target, it all depends on two things: the distance to your target and the bullet's speed. If you're using the Suppressor Weapon Accessory, your bullet will travel much slower. Therefore, your bullet will drop sooner than the normal distance. You will have to compensate for the slower bullet velocity by aiming even higher than usual. If possible, try to look where your bullet is dropping after firing it, then aim higher or lower and use the lines on your weapon's scope for help.

The Range Finder weapon accessory allows the weapon's scope to zero in on the enemy so you don't have to raise your scope while aiming. This device will tell you the distance to the target, and with the press of a button, the scope will set the crosshairs at 50, 100, and 150 Meters away.

    Suppression

Suppression is a firearm mechanic and tactic that has been available in the Battlefield series since the third entry. The basic concept is simple: Fire at an enemy to suppress them. Even if you don't hit the target, their vision will be blurred and their accuracy will be reduced through weapon sway. Once the target is killed by a teammate, you will earn score for suppressing the enemy.

In Battlefield Hardline, Light Machine Guns and Sniper Rifles provide the most suppression activity. However, LMGs are only available as Battle Pickups. Furthermore, suppression hardly occurs when in close quarter combat.

Light Machine Guns with massive amounts of ammo and bipods for increased accuracy are the best weapon for Suppressing the enemy. If your team is on the receiving end of the Suppression, have a skilled sniper take out the person who is causing all the trouble.

    Levolution

Levolution is a returning feature available in all Battlefield Hardline Multiplayer Maps. This allows players to trigger a number of big and small events around each map. It's basically an evolution of level design and interaction, hence the name.

Small Levolution features include opening and closing doors, interacting with switches to open and close large shutters, using elevators, and much more! The larger Levolution events can completely alter a map's layout or force players to change their battle strategy.

Each of Battlefield Hardline's nine multiplayer maps have some form of Levolution that can either be triggered or may occur automatically. The biggest events can always be found in the Conquest game mode. Conquest is always played on the largest possible version of each map, and some of these events are only available in certain sections of a map. Of course, the large events may also be available in other game modes.

Side Note: The game mode Heist will always feature select destructible walls that allows the criminal team to crack open the main objective vault somewhere on the map. That sort of destruction is only available on that game mode.

    Bank Job

Bank Job is light on Levolution features. Sure, it includes the basics like opening doors and using the elevator in the parking garage. However, the biggest feature in this map is the ability to shoot down chandeliers in the Bank's lobby. Anyone underneath a chandelier when it drops will be instantly killed.

    Derailed

Derailed has a large Levolution event that will change the map's layout, including the position of one of the capture points. In Conquest, Flag C is set on a large bridge with a stationary train. The middle car of the train is a large red tanker. Use bullets and explosive gadgets to ignite the tanker and cause a massive explosion. The explosion will cause the bridge to collapse, changing the location of the capture point.

    Downtown

Downtown has a large Levolution event that will slightly alter the map's layout. A large yellow crane can be found directly in the middle of the map between Flags C and E. This crane is held in position by four suspension wires. Destroy three of these four wires to bring the entire crane down. A number of bridges will be created from the wreckage that connects the construction area to the building that holds Flag C, and the building that holds Flag C to the building that holds Flag E.

    Dust Bowl

Dust Bowl has weather changing Levolution that occurs automatically. Some time during a game, a large dust storm will come into the map. This storm greatly reduces visibility and all game sounds. Using Vehicles during the storm is not recommended.

    Everglades

Everglades holds a small fracking site at Flag B. The drilling rigs can be activated by interacting with a control panel in the nearby buildings.

Once the drilling rigs start up, a green gas will come out of the base of the rigs. Shoot near the green gas to cause a fire, followed by a large explosion. Contaminated water will flow out of the bottom of the demolished rigs.

    Growhouse

Growhouse centers around an underground greenhouse where weed is illegally grown. The walls to this underground greenhouse can be demolished with explosives, creating a number of paths in and out of the bunker. The most flashy way to reach the growhouse is by blowing up a large red tanker at Flag A. Shooting the tanker will cause a massive explosion that creates a short tunnel to the growhouse.

Once in the growhouse, the marijuana can be shot down and set on fire. If a fire is started, the sprinkler system will activate to put out the flames.

    Hollywood Heights

Hollywood Heights holds a large mansion in the center of the map at Flag B. The backside of this mansion can be demolished by shooting two of the three columns near the pool. This will create a quick path to the second floor from the pool area.

    Riptide

Riptide has a weather changing Levolution that occurs automatically. Some time during a game, a large storm will blow into the map. The lighting won't be as great as before, and the sea will start to churn. Using the gunboat during the storm is not recommended.

    The Block

Unfortunately, most of the building in battlefield Hardline aren't destructible. The four apartment building in The Block are an exception.

The four apartment buildings near Flag B can have their walls completely blown out. If all the walls around the base are taken out, the entire building will come down. Use explosives to punch holes in the walls and level all four buildings.

    Interrogation

When talking about Battlefield or other first person shooters, most people think of shooting and killing enemy combatants as quickly as possible. However, Battlefield Hardline allows players to use non-lethal measures and Interrogation.

    Why interrogate an Enemy?

If you use interrogation instead of killing an enemy, you can gain valuable intel including other enemy locations. This is very valuable in the Campaign and competitive Multiplayer game modes, such as Crosshair and Rescue.

How to Interrogate Enemies in Battlefield Hardline

To interrogate enemies, first you must perform a non-lethal take down. The easiest way to do this is to shoot an enemy agent with the T62 Cew, which is a stun gun. Another option is to use a take down attack with a non-sharp melee weapon. Walk up behind an enemy Agent and press the melee attack to use a non-lethal take down.

Once an enemy is down, they will not get back up on their own. Walk over them and hold down which ever button appears on screen. It should be E for PC, X for Xbox consoles, and Square for PlayStation consoles. Wait for the circle to fill up to complete the interrogation.

  3. How to Earn Cash Fast

In the Multiplayer of Battlefield Hardline Cash and Score are tied together. Earn score (also known as experience points) to earn money. You will need a massive amount of loot to unlock all of the available weapons, attachments, gadgets, camouflage, and vehicle upgrades in Hardline's multiplayer. Cash, Money, Dolla Dolla Bill ya'll.

    The Best Game Mode

The secret to earning cash fast is to focus on the objective in a game, not kill death ratio. The best game mode for quick cash is the brand new Hotwire mode. Hotwire is basically mobile Conquest. Find a marked car and drive around inside at high speeds to continuously earn money. You don't even have to be the one driving to earn points!

    Using the Right Class

The best class to use in Hotwire is the Mechanic. Mechanics specialize in repairing and destroying vehicles. The class comes outfitted with an M79 or M320 HE 40mm grenade launcher which is great for taking out vehicles at a distance. When you have enough money, purchase the Repair Tool as quickly as possible. This is the gadget that will repair friendly vehicles and destroy enemy vehicles.

Remember, you do not have to be driving the marked car to earn points in Hotwire. In fact, it is best to be the passenger while playing as a Mechanic. If the vehicle becomes damaged, you can repair it with your Repair Tool. You can also lean out the window and fire at enemy vehicles that may be on your tail. Vehicles in Hardline are incredibly weak. They can even be damaged with Pistols and Submachine Guns. Of course, explosives are the fastest way to take out a car.

If you need to rank up the other three Classes, it's best to use the Stunt Driver gadget. This gadget reduce vehicle damage when colliding with other vehicles or road hazards, and will outfit the car with some NOS for a quick speed boost. The Enforcer class also has Breaching Charges that can be used to blow up enemy vehicles remotely.

    Don't Forget About Boosts

Boost are the score multipliers available in Battlepacks. In Battlefield 4, you could choose a 50% or 100% Boost at the pause menu and have it work. However, in Battlefield Hardline, you have to choose a specific type of Boost at the spawn screen (click the Boosts tap near the loadouts tab) and set it to the Class you're currently using.

Once you've picked the Class you will be using in Hotwire, select an Objective Boost. If you don't have an Objective Boost, the Gearhead Boost is the second best choice for Hotwire.

    Upgrade the Cars!

The most common cars in Hotwire are Sedans and Coupes. While earning cash, you will also earn vehicle score for whichever car you are driving. Vehicle score is needed in addition to cash to unlock vehicle upgrades. The best purchases for Sedans and Coupes is the Fire Extinguisher Countermeasure and Reinforced Chassis Upgrade. This will keep the vehicle in good shape while speeding around the map.
