Volunteering at Capital LAN
Every open role is listed with what it involves and how much time it takes. Pick one, apply, and we will come back to you either way.
Everything we need is on the board
The Help Wanted board lists the roles we actually need filled, grouped by the part of the event they belong to. Each one has its own page saying what the job involves, roughly when it runs, and what kit you would have to work with.
Every listing has its own link, so if you know somebody who would be good at one, send them the page rather than the board.
What the labels mean
A role shows how many spots are left. Full means the spots are taken — the page stays up so a link you were sent still explains itself, but the apply button is closed. Some roles also have a closing date, after which they stop taking applications.
Roles that say Every event are the ones we run every year. Ones named for a specific event are a one-off need.
Applying
You need an account, because that is how we get back to you and how you can see where your application stands. We take your name and email from your account, so all you tell us is when you are free and anything else we should know.
You can apply for more than one role. You cannot apply twice for the same one, but if you withdraw you are free to apply again while it is still open.
After you apply
We review applications by hand, so it is not instant. When there is a decision you will hear about it — by email, and by Discord DM if you have Discord connected. You can change which of those you get in your notification settings.
My volunteering shows everything you have applied for and where each one stands, and is where you withdraw if your plans change. Please do withdraw rather than going quiet — it frees the spot for someone else.
If your employer offers Volunteer Time Off
Plenty of employers give paid time off for volunteering, or match hours with a donation. We have a page with our EIN and the other details HR usually asks for.

Tell us the days and rough times you could actually turn up. We use this to work out who to put where, so a wider answer genuinely helps — but only tick what you can really commit to. You are not signing up to all of it, and we will confirm the specifics with you before the event.
