Weekly Bonus Event - Legion Dungeons
The Legion Dungeon Event is live this week!
- You will get one extra piece of loot from the final dungeon boss on difficulties below Mythic+.
- Pick up Emissary of War from Archmage Timear in Dalaran to earn Cache of Antoran Treasures
- This quest requires you to clear 4 Mythic(+) dungeons and rewards Heroic Antorus loot.
All week, open Group Finder (default hotkey: i) and then select Dungeon Finder to queue for any Legion dungeon on Normal or Heroic difficulty. Alternately, get a group of veteran dungeoneers together and travel to one of the Legion dungeons on Mythic difficulty.

Patch 7.3.5 - Legendary Tokens Update

- Note: Emissary bags earned prior to the release of 7.3.5 will still give pre-7.3.5 numbers of Essences. There is no benefit to saving Emissary bags until afer the patch.
- We also plan to add Wakening Essences to your first Battleground win of the day in 7.3.5.
- The tokens are bind on pickup because we don't want to overly encourage players to farm Essences on alt characters in order to feed Legendary items to their mains. However, if you purchase and use a token on a character that already has all of the available legendaries for their class, you will be given a random BoA token for another class.

Patrick "Vanion" Michalczak Passes Away
Patrick Michalczak ran the German WoW fansite Vanion.EU and passed away on January 2. It was always a pleasure to work with him and he will be missed.

Patrick was not only a loved member of the German WoW Community, but also a loved brother, son and friend. I personally can't and won't share further details about this tragic accident. Privacy has clear priority in such a matter and I only wrote this article because there was already speculation in the German community and I did not want it to spread further. Please be considerate of the mourning family members and friends. We will talk about the topic in more detail when the time is right.
The work on Vanion.eu will continue just like it has been the past few days. It is also too early to talk about the future of this site, but you will hear from us in the coming weeks. I wish the best for all community members that have to stomach this sudden announcement and suggest lighting a small candle, even just a tea light, in honor of Patrick "Vanion" Michaelczak today. That would be a lovely gesture.

PTR Development Notes - Build 25807
Hi all!
Today's PTR update includes a new method for acquiring Legendary items: the Purified Titan Essence. This item can be purchased from Arcanomancer Vridiel in Dalaran in exchange for 175 Wakening Essences.
When used, the Purified Titan Essence will immediately grant a Legion Legendary item appropriate for your specialization. Note that this item is bind on pickup, and that the Legendary item granted by the Purified Titan Essence does not affect your chance to earn a Legendary through other methods.
Additionally, the Awoken Titan Essence used to upgrade Legendary items to item level 1000 is now sold by Arcanomancer Vridiel as a vendor item, rather than as a quest reward, for the same total cost (50 Wakening Essence). The quest will no longer be offered, but can be turned in if your character already has it active.

Balance Druid and Assassination Rogue January 9th ChangesAssassination and Balance Rotation Adjustments on Tuesday
In recent weeks, we’ve seen the rise of a pair of unusual builds for Assassination Rogues and Balance Druids, both of which end up abandoning core abilities like Solar Wrath, Lunar Strike, and Mutilate in favor of Moonfire and Fan of Knives spam. While player ingenuity often devises interesting and unexpected ways of optimizing performance, in this case the resulting gameplay became one-dimensional, and we’ve heard feedback to that effect.
As a result, with the upcoming weekly resets in each region, starting on Tuesday, January 9, we’ll be making some targeted changes to reinforce the core rotational abilities of these two specializations, with only a minimal effect on overall balance:

This Week in WoW History
We're taking a look back at old MMO-Champion posts and World of Warcraft news that occurred during this time in previous years.
Patch 4.3.2
The test realms saw this patch pop up in 2012, and a few interesting additions were found. The popular 64 Bit Game Client was added in a build called “test x86”, and while this patch was only supposed to bring small bug fixes, it was also found that three new items made it into the game. The Feldrake, Eye of the Legion, and Demon Hunter’s Aspect were all found and speculated to become TCG items.
Patch 5.2 The Thunder King
This content Patch brought a few additions to the game. A small update to the Transmog system allowed players to transmog similar weapon styles, such as Swords into Daggers. Warlock Island was also found, and speculated that it would be used during the Green Fire Warlock specific questline. This patch also added new Heirloom items which scaled to level 85, along with a new zone called Isle of Giants.
Time for an Item Level Squish
The Warlords of Draenor Item Level Squish was intended to bring the numbers of players health, damage, but especially that of bosses to a lower number. The last boss of Siege of Orgrimmar Mythic, was designed to heal to full health several times, because the game engine could not handle a number large enough to have his health progress as a regular boss would. It was also made very clear that this item level squish would not affect players clearing older content, such as raids for transmog, because everything will be scaled accordingly.
Warlords of Draenor Cinematic
A special event was held to reveal the cinematic trailer to the newest WoW expansion. Streamers, YouTubers, and Blizzard employees were all at this event, revealing the introduction cinematic, which gave us some insight into the Horde on the world of Draenor. This expansion would take place years in the past, when Gul’dan tried to corrupt the Orcs of Draenor with fel, however many resisted to preserve their freedom.
Warcraft in China
The Warcraft movie mall tour in China was the largest exhibition mounted for this new film. With over 150 props from the movie, visitors had the opportunity to see statues, Orc huts, and many more items during the tour. This was in an attempt to appeal to the Chinese audience, who ended up making up half of the gross total ($220.8 million) after the release.
Activision Blizzard Acquires MLG Assets
Major League Gaming was once the largest esports organizers in North America. After years of innovating the esports scene, the emergence of other organizers such as ESL put MLG in a tough spot with multiple competitors. This caused some financial struggles causing them to sell all assets to Activision Blizzard for $46 million. The platform was, and is still used to host WoW tournaments, and the newly formed Overwatch League, among others.
Diablo 20th Anniversary
The Diablo franchise celebrated its 20th Anniversary early 2017. To celebrate this event, a new dungeon was added to Diablo III. This new area was designed in the style of Diablo I, with graphics, movement, and sound being filtered to capture the feel of the game. This event was also celebrated in WoW, where killing a Treasure Goblin would allow players to reach The Secret Cow Level, and kill the Cow King for some Diablo referenced loot.

Battle for Azeroth PvP Changes Recap
Battle for Azeroth is making substantial changes to World PvP as well as adding more arenas and a new battleground!
New Arenas
Two new arenas are being added to the game. One will be set in Tiragarde Sound and the other in Zuldazar.
World PvP
- The PvP vs PvE server distinction is going away, replaced by a toggle set by each player. You can toggle being opted into PvP or not when you are in town.
- Players that feel trapped on PvP servers now have a way out. This opens up the game to changing and improving the World PvP rule sets.
- There are two main audiences: Players that play on PvP servers because that is where they ended up that don't really want to be there and players that love World PvP and want more of it.
- New content like bounty hunting or assassination quests can be introduced as an option now.
- There will be bonuses to experience, reputation and other things when you are questing with PvP mode enabled to offset the inefficiency.
- The team hopes this will build a foundation to make World PvP great again.
Island Expeditions - PvP Mode
Island Expeditions take some of what the team liked from Mists of Pandaria's scenarios. These expeditions take a team of three players of any roles to uncharted islands across the Great Sea in search of Azerite. Each island is randomly generated, so there is always something unique and new about the experience. This feature uses advanced AI in its Normal to Mythic difficulties, but teams of three players from the Horde and Alliance will also be able to queue up against each other in a PvP version!
New Battleground: Seething Shore
In Patch 7.3.5 a new battleground called the Seething Shore will be introduced. This new battleground takes place in Silithus and features the Horde and Alliance descending upon the wound that Sargeras put in Azeroth to fight over Azerite bubbling to the surface.
- Dynamic control point game play- Both factions will fight to control points on the map that are not always in the same spot. Control points are random and have many different spawn locations.

There are no specifics on new PvP brawls being added to the game, but Blizzard has stated that more are coming in Battle for Azeroth.

The team has said that there isn't likely to be any substantial changes to PvP talents but do plan to make rotations more similar between PvP and PvE.

The team likes the PvP talents, however, it is hard to put that into the outdoor world. They recognize how unbalanced World PvP is. The team wants you to be able to customize your character more in PvP. They are looking at the scaling technology to use within PvP, basically using the same tech that lets low levels party with higher levels. They are reworking the reward structure in PvP.
Official Preview
While there are many new PvE experiences waiting in Battle for Azeroth, there are also some new PvP updates for players to look forward to.
In a new Battleground, Seething Shore, players of the Horde and Alliance will descend upon Silithus to battle over the Azerite bubbling to the surface. This Battleground will offer dynamic control point gameplay similar to Arathi Basin, but with new control points appearing periodically as resources are depleted. This new Battleground will require coordination as you and your team work to overcome the opposing faction. Since this Battleground actually serves to tell part of the story that leads to the events of Battle for Azeroth, we also plan to offer a preview of the Seething Shore during patch 7.3.5 as we continue to build upon the conflict between the Horde and the Alliance for the coming expansion.
Beyond instanced PvP, we’re also reexamining how PvP plays out in the outdoor world. The PvP system hasn’t fundamentally changed since the launch of World of Warcraft; however, so many other systems that shape the world, ranging from flying mounts to cross-realm zones, have changed the way players interact. We’ve heard feedback lamenting the decline of world PvP over the years. Meanwhile, there are players on PvP servers who don’t necessarily enjoy that gameplay, but also don’t want to switch servers and leave their friends behind. Looking ahead to Battle for Azeroth, this feels like a great opportunity to update the PvP system to better reflect the state of the game world today.
The core of our plan lies in bringing all servers together under a single PvP ruleset. Players will ultimately be able to choose on an individual basis whether they want to opt in to PvP gameplay or not. While in a capital city, you’ll be able to opt into world PvP, and you will venture out into a PvP-enabled version of the world, populated by other players who have also opted in to PvP gameplay. This also provides a universal foundation upon which we can build new world PvP systems that previously would have inherently excluded everyone playing on a PvE realm.
For those who do opt in to the PvP experience, there will be some slight bonuses such as extra experience gain or reputation gain to offset the additional risk. The nature and magnitude of these bonuses will undergo extensive tuning, with the goal of not making anyone feel obligated to participate in PvP if they dislike that gameplay, while counterbalancing the loss in efficiency for those who do. -

Seven Days on the Battlegrounds
All this week, heading to the Battlegrounds will net you some extra Honor along with bonus loot for completing this week’s quest. To enter the fray, open Group Finder (default hotkey: I) and then select the Player vs. Player tab. Next choose Casual, select Random Battlegrounds, and hit the Join Battle button—you’ll be matched up with other players and sent to one of the 11 battlegrounds.
Weekly Quest
Before you get started, Archmage Timear near Violet Hold in Dalaran has a quest for you. Win four random Battlegrounds, and you’ll be rewarded with 5 Marks of Honor, a Badge of Honor (1000 Honor), and a Glory of the Melee Artifact Power token (base 500 AP).

This week you gain 50% more Honor in Battlegrounds.
A New Event Every Week
The Bonus Events system consists of a rotating schedule of different activities, currently scheduled to run each week beginning on Tuesdays. Each Bonus Event grants a passive bonus to a particular game activity and offers a once-per-event quest with a noteworthy reward for accomplishing a related goal. The in-game calendar can serve as your one-stop reference for the event schedule. The Adventure Guide also offers a direct link to active Bonus Events, allowing you to easily accept any associated quests. -

Security Updates
MMO-Champion recently enabled SSL support for all users! This was previously only enabled only on pages that collected payment information, but now works across the entire site.
If you want even more security on your account, you can enable two-factor authentication on your account and use Google Authenticator (Android / iOS) or Authy to secure your account. Be sure to hold on to your recovery codes, as that is the only way to remove two-factor authentication from your account.
MMO-Champion 10 Year Anniversary
Earlier this year, we reached a monumental milestone: MMO-Champion's 10 year anniversary. In addition to a variety of giveaways, community members were able to share their favorite MMOC memories, reminisce on the last 10 years of World of Warcraft news, and even test their MMO-Champion knowledge. Battle for Azeroth - New Zones Preview
Battle for Azeroth is introducing two new faction specific continents to explore - Kul Tiras for the Alliance and Zandalar for the Horde. Each continent contains 3 zones that can be explored in any order. The continents have faction specific level-up dungeons as well.
At the level cap, each faction can visit the other continent for more content and world quests.
Kul Tiras Continent
Kul Tiras was founded 3,000 years ago when a group of Gilneans left the empire to explore the Great Sea. They came upon a mountainous region rich in resources and decided to settle in. Over the course of the next 2,500 years they built one of the most powerful navies on Azeroth. The Alliance is very interested in bringing this navy into their ranks. Kul Tiras is ruled by four houses that are in trouble.
Kul Tiras Region - Tiragarde Sound
Tiragarde Sound sits on an inland in the middle of the continent and connects the zones. It contains the capital of Kul Tiras, Boralus, which is the Alliance main hub for the expansion. Katherine Proudmoore, Jaina’s mother, is in charge. Kul Tirans hunt sea monsters and so are much heartier than normal humans. The main problem in Tiragarde Sound is pirates and their stronghold, Freehold, which is a dungeon in the expansion.
Kul Tiras Region - Drustvar
Drustvar is a forested mountainous region located in the southwest of Kul Tiras. It is governed by House Wavecrest, but in recent months they have been suspiciously absent from public affairs. In their absence, arms and sausages have stopped being supplied to Boralus. Witchcraft and death magic are heavily prominent as the land is cursed.
Kul Tiras Region - Stormsong Valley
Stormsong Valley is located in the north of Kul Tiras and is lush, green and beautiful. House Stormsong is in charge and the people here are extremely devoted to the sea, providing ships for Kul Tiras. Sea Priests must bless each vessel that sails out of Stormsong Valley. Ship building operations have stopped as ancient dark forces are invading from the sea. Quilboars are also a huge problem.
Zandalar Continent
The Zandalari Empire formed 16,000 years ago. The continent of Zandalar was once a landlocked mountain but the sundering changed that. The empire sank into the sea, but the trolls adapted to island life and built a navy that rivals, if not surpasses, Kul Tiras. The Horde wants to add this navy to its cause.
Zandalar Region - Zuldazar
Zuldazar is the capital of the Zandalari Empire and is located in the southern part of the island. It is also the only safe haven on the continent. The Horde use this capital as a hub for the expansion. King Rastakhan and his daughter, Princess Talanji, rule over this empire. The Horde must investigate an internal uprising within Zuldazar while also fending off blood trolls from the north.
Zandalar Region - Nazmir
Nazmir was once a lush forest but has since become a festering swampland since Deathwing shook the earth. Blood trolls thrive here. To defeat these trolls, the Horde must enlist the help of the Loa, powerful troll gods. The Loa of Death Bwonsamdi and Krawgwa the Frog Loa play important roles in the story. Nazmir also contains a Titan facility that holds the key to destroying all life on Azeroth.
Zandalar Region - Vol'dun
To the northwest lies the desert of Vol'dun. It used to be a thriving jungle until the Aqir destroyed it. Zandalar send their criminals to this desert to die, however, some survive to cause problems. A native race of fox people called the Vulpera make their home in this desert as well. They will need help against the Sethrak, sentient snake people, who also cause trouble.

Cataclysm Midnight Launch
The midnight launch event for the third expansion of the game was celebrated around the world. A short clip put together by blizzard shows fans from all over Europe, as North America. The launch event featured live music, cosplayers, and lots of WoW fans.
Subraces in WoW
In 2013 Shoc put together quite a few subrace mockups and shared them on the forums. This Fan Art was received very well by the community, and caught the attention of the Art Director, Chris Robinson. Several years later, Allied Races were announced and they are expected to be added to the game in the near future.
World of Warcraft Global Offensive
Ivan Kuzkin released another WoW Machinima, this time combining the popular FPS game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive with World of Warcraft characters. 7.3.5 PTR - Mythic Plus Battle Resurrections
Combat resurrections in Mythic+ dungeons in Patch 7.3.5 will function similarly to the way they currently do in raids.
- Combat resurrections start with 1 charge for the group and gain a new charge every 10 minutes.
- Raise Ally, Rebirth, Soulstone and Hunter battle resurrections all share the same charges.
- You can accumulate a total of 5 charges at a time, however, it would take 50 minutes to reach this point.
7.3.5 PTR - Ogmot Journal
Ogmot the Mad is a new rare elite ogre in Silithus that drops Ogmot's Dream Journal. This journal contains 10 pages that detail the events of a nameless person who deals with the whispers of the Old Gods. The drop was originally discovered by wilder_people!

The in-game calendar can serve as your one-stop reference for the event schedule.
