  7. Battle for Azeroth - Allied Races In Depth PreviewIn Battle for Azeroth, the Horde and Alliance will each receive three new playable races. Alliance Dark Iron Dwarves Lightforged Draenei Void Elves Horde Zandalari Trolls The Nightborne Highmountain Tauren Why are They Different? While the basic skeleton model for each of these races resemble existing ones, each race will have unique customizations and racials. More in the Future While there are only 6 Allied Races to start, there are more planned in the future. How to Unlock Allied Races are unlocked via preliminary requirements that lead to a quest chain done on your main character to bring the race into your faction. Once completed, the Allied Race will be available in the character creation options account-wide. Preliminary requirements can include becoming exalted with the Allied Race’s faction from previous expansions such as Highmountain or the Nightborne. What Level/Where do They Start At? Allied Races begin their journey at level 20. The current plan is for them to start in the main hub of their respective faction (Orgrimmar and Stormwind) and level wherever they see fit within the new old world scaling technology. Level Boost/Race Change You are able to level boost and race change to an Allied Race once it is unlocked on your account. Heritage ArmorAfter you unlock an Allied Race, leveling one to level cap will unlock a class restricted armor transmog unique to that race. This must be done by actually leveling and not through level boosting or race changing. These transmogs are armor agnostic, meaning they can be transmogged on any type of armor. Faction Embassies In the BlizzCon demo, Stormwind and Orgrimmar each had a new building that served as a hub for recruiting their Allied Races. The quests to unlock each race was given out in a manner similar to your artifact weapon acquisition. Alliance RacesAlliance players will have access to the Dark Iron Dwarves, Lightforged Draenei, and Void Elves. Dark Iron Dwarves: Led by Magni Bronzebeard’s daughter Moira Thauissan, the Dark Iron Dwarves are known for their dark skin and fiery features. The clan has resided mostly in the Blackrock Mountains until the death of their previous ruler, Dagran Thaurissan.Their relationship with the Alliance has been rocky at best, but with Moira joining Ironforge’s Council of Three Hammers, the Dark Iron Clan is slowly finding a place within its ranks. Class Options Hunter, Mage, Paladin, Priest, Warrior Miscellaneous Customization options include light themed tattoos Void Elves: During the final push against the Legion on Argus, Alleria Windrunner learned to harness the void without falling to madness by her mentor The Locus-Walker. The Void has a reputation for corrupting those who use it, but Alleria has since managed to train a group of outcasted Blood Elves to resist it as well. She and her followers have joined her husband to fight for the Alliance. Racials A small blink Rest Unknown Class Options Hunter, Mage, Monk, Priest, Warrior, Rogue, Warlock Miscellaneous Switch between a void form and a less shadowy form similar to Worgen Horde RacesHorde players will have access to the Zandalari Trolls, Nightborne, and Highmountain Tauren. I'm saying 33, my friends are saying 38. Which of us is right? I believe we'd be going into 33 with BFA (Alex_Afrasiabi) Hey Alex! May daily question in hopes that you'll respond: Will the Ebon Blade continue to create new death knights in BFA? DK creation exists in a pocket of time (Wrath) which is why you start at 55 and also why we have to be careful about what races can be DK. So DK creation will continue to exist in that fashion. (Alex_Afrasiabi) Sorry for the many replies, but here is the quest: https://t.co/yokb4XF3Vs - notice what he says upon completion It doesn’t change how death knights are created in WoW. Which is back during the Wrath era. They are not mutually exclusive. (Alex_Afrasiabi) Dark Legacy Comics #608 DLC #608 has been released! View the full article

So if you're being harassed by players or seeing players with non RP names that are clearly ridiculous, please report them. We rely on player reports so as long as you are reporting these players our lovely Game Masters can investigate. While I love seeing the passion and influx that Project 60 has brought on and sparked into the community, its important to be respectful of players on these RP servers who are there because it is their place to have an RP focused community (hence the subset of RP server rules and server designation)." I want to add an additional clarification that the naming rule is really the only thing that is separate from RP to other servers, and the rules on harassment are universal regardless of server type. The blame is not on the Project 60 community itself and most of the people running it have not endorsed any harassment and have been encouraging the opposite. I would attribute any sort of harassment/negative behavior to be an outlier and someone that would probably be doing it anyway even if it wasn't for the Project 60 influx. The time has come for the forces of the Alliance and Horde to confront the Burning Legion within Sargeras’ seat of power. Antorus, the Burning Throne, awaits—along with the formidable dangers within. Location: Argus Difficulties: Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic, Mythic Level: 110 Bosses: 11 Raid Unlock Schedule November 29 — Normal and Heroic difficulties December 6 — Mythic difficulty and Raid Finder Wing 1: Light’s Breach December 20 — Raid Finder Wing 2: Forbidden Descent January 3 — Raid Finder Wing 3: Hope’s End January 17 — Raid Finder Wing 4: Seat of the Pantheon Antorus represents the center and source of the Legion’s power, and the team approached the design of the zone with several principles in mind. First off, Antorus is staggering in scale; this is not a mere terrestrial fortress or keep, but rather a sprawling complex carved into the depths of a shattered world, and while sections of the raid are traversable on foot, players will use the Vindicaar and other means of conveyance to span the great distances involved. Second, this is the culmination of a military campaign by the Army of the Light and our other major allies in this fight, and player champions represent the tip of the spear with an army at their back. As you carve a path through Antorus, a pitched battle rages all around you, and your actions help advance the cause of the Light in this battle for the fate of all worlds. And finally, we get a rare chance to delve into the Legion’s true origins—before the Fel, and before black and green corruption, there was a single mighty titan who embarked upon a crusade that would shape the fate of the universe. A glimpse of those ancient secrets awaits the bold and daring souls who venture into the innermost depths of Antorus. Light’s Breach Garothi Worldbreaker Constructed deep within the core of Argus and outfitted with an arsenal to decimate worlds, this war machine has been designed for a single purpose: to bring the mortals’ invasion to its knees. Felhounds of Sargeras Infused with fire and shadow, F’harg and Shatug are the prized pets of Sargeras. Bred for carnage, these hounds delight in eviscerating their master’s enemies. With the Army of Light and their allies advancing upon Antorus, the Legion prepares to unleash these vicious creatures onto the battlefield and put an end to the mortals’ invasion. Gaze of the Legion Antoran High Command Long ago, in the golden age of eredar civilization, a council was formed to oversee the defense of Argus and maintain peace. But after their dark bargain was struck with Sargeras, these master tacticians used their military expertise to help orchestrate a Burning Crusade that ravaged countless worlds. Now the full might of the Legion’s army is theirs to command, and they wield this terrible power to annihilate all who oppose the Dark Titan’s will. Halls of the Boundless Reach Portal Keeper Hasabel Portal Keeper Hasabel maintains the nexus through which the Legion has unleashed its insidious armies upon countless worlds. With portals that open to myriad strategic locations throughout the Great Dark Beyond. Hasabel is capable of bringing the might of the Legion’s arsenal to bear upon any who oppose her. Elarian Sanctuary Eonar Lifebinder Though she was felled by the blade of Sargeras, the Life-Binder’s essence escaped the grasp of the Dark Titan. After millennia spent hiding in isolation, Eonar’s sanctuary has been discovered by the Legion. Should her soul fall into the enemy’s hands, Eonar’s powers of nature growth will be perverted to make the Burning Crusade unstoppable. The Exhaust Imonar the Soulhunter The infamous Imonar serves as the Legion’s bloodhound, capable of tracking prey across the cosmos. With a vast array of gadgets and traps at his disposal, Imonar has yet to lose a bounty…and he certainly doesn’t intend to sully his perfect record by failing to fulfill his latest contract. Kin’garoth The design of every Legion war machine stems from the depraved mind of Kin’garoth. Obsessed with crafting implements of death, Kin’garoth infused his very body into the production machinery so he could more efficiently churn out a never-ending supply of destruction. At the behest of the Legion’s dark master, Kin’garoth’s fevered brilliance has developed a new super-weapon which he plans to unleash upon the Army of Light. The Burning Throne The Coven of Shivarra Having proven themselves to be the most depraved and fanatical of all his followers, Sargeras entrusted the Coven with the unholy task of twisting the minds of the fallen titans into an unstoppable Dark Pantheon. Each sister employs her own signature brand of torture, eliciting screams which echo throughout the halls of Antorus. It is said that neither mortal nor demon can refuse their whispers, making it only a matter of time before the will of the titans is broken. Chamber of Anguish Varimathras As one of the dreadlords overseeing the Legion’s forces during the Third War, Varimathras failed to stop the rebellious Lich King. He submitted to an ill-fated alliance with Sylvanas Windrunner, then made one last bid for power before facing a humiliating defeat. In payment for his blunders, Varimathras has been tortured by the Coven of Shivarra. The vindictive sisters stripped away both flesh and sanity, leaving only a singular desire to inflict suffering upon the mortals who cost him everything. The World Soul Aggramar Once the noble Avenger of the Pantheon, Aggramar was struck down by Sargeras and reborn as a titan of destruction. He now stands at the core of Argus, guarding a power that would unmake the universe. Not even demons are permitted to tread within the titan’s halls, and any mortals bold enough to trespass will be reduced to cinders by Aggramar’s burning blade, Taeshalach. Seat of the Pantheon Argus the Unmaker Bound. Broken. Eons of existence, knowing only pain. A shattered soul, fueling infinite evil. The master beckons. Rise… Rise! Begin the end of all things. 13. What Happened in Hearthstone? Taking a Look Back at November 13 - 19 Pilgrim's Bounty The Pilgrim’s Bounty is coming up from November 20 to November 27 and with it comes a time to reflect upon one’s good fortune and share feasts with everyone around you! New in 2017 With the introduction of the Appearance tab in 7.2, the non-transmoggable Pilgrim set can be saved and transmogged during the duration of the holiday. The Spirit of Sharing The main area where the festivities take place is right outside the capital cities for the Horde and Alliance and in a couple of smaller towns. Players can interact with the many foods options set on these tables and will gain a buff by eating or passing each of the servings. There are 5 buffs in total that you can gain that when combined together will reward the The Spirit of Sharing buff that grants 10% increase in reputation gains for one hour. This is great if you are working on Legion reputations and completing World Quests or working on other reputations for a little boost. Cooking Pilgrim’s Bounty is centered around cooking and there are 5 recipes to add to your cooking collection. All you need to do is buy the Bountiful Cookbook from Bountiful Barrel located at each capital city table to learn them. The recipes are used for several quests, dailies, and the Now We’re Cookin’ achievement related to the holiday. Spice Bread Stuffing Pumpkin Pie Cranberry Chutney Candied Sweet Potato Slow-Roasted Turkey Cosmetic Items 5 daily quests can be found around the bountiful tables at capital cities that award a piece of a non-transmoggable Pilgrim’s set or a Pilgrim's Bounty cache. The cache can contain the Fine Pilgrim's Hat, the Frightened Bush Chicken battle pet and the Silver-Plated Turkey Shooter toy, along with several consumable foods and turkey shooters. The quests are centered around cooking so having at least a 280 skill level will help but if you do not have the skill level, you can buy the items needed from Bountiful Barrel at each capital city table. Non-Transmoggable Set Pilgrim's Hat Pilgrim's Attire Pilgrim's Dress Pilgrim's Robe Pilgrim's Boots Pilgrim’s Bounty Cache Fine Pilgrim's Hat - Transmoggable year-round. Frightened Bush Chicken - Teaches Bush Chicken. Silver-Plated Turkey Shooter - Covers target with turkey feathers. Achievements There are 9 achievements for the Pilgrim’s Bounty holiday, 7 required for the meta achievement Pilgrim that will award you with the title the Pilgrim along with the Plump Turkey battle pet and 2 that are separate. Do note that Pilgrim is not required to complete the What a Long, Strange Trip It’s Been meta achievement for the Violet Proto-Drake. Pilgrim Achievements “FOOD FIGHT”- Bounce food off a player at a Bountiful Table. Now We’re Cookin’ - Cook up one of every Pilgrim’s Bounty dish. Pilgrim’s Paunch - Acquire the Spirit of Sharing from a complete Bountiful Table feast at every capital of your faction. Sharing is Caring - Pass one of every dish at a Bountiful Table. Terokkar Turkey Time - Defeat Talon King Ikiss while wearing a Pilgrim’s hat and either a Pilgrim’s Dress, Robe or Attire. All of the parts on this page are Amazon affiliate links. When you purchase your parts through them it helps support the site! This month New CPUs from Intel have been released but are proving challenging to actually find in stock. They will require a new motherboard as well. We will update our build list with the 8600K and other Coffee Lake CPUs when stock improves. If you can find an 8600K in stock, be sure to use a Z370 motherboard, as older motherboards are not compatible even though they have the same pin count. The current SSD prices are fairly flat right now, with most SSDs under $0.50 per gigabyte when on sale. Depending on how much you want to overclock, you may need to spend a bit more for a better CPU cooler like the NH-D15. Unless you are doing a lot of video rendering or streaming, you do not need the 7700K and would get more performance from spending that money elsewhere. Blue Posts Originally Posted by Blizzard Entertainment Karazhan(Old) - Chess Event Bug The case here is that technically the chess-pieces (such as the King) are "vehicles" which we enter. When we leave, we "leave vehicle" and return to our character, and all should work well when done normally like that. But by using custom scripts, or functionalities added by addons - it can be possible to "dismiss" the chess piece, like a hunter dismisses their pet. This causes the piece to despawn - which then means the piece can't be killed and end the encounter in some cases which can cause it to get stuck. If you have been effected by this issue - you can solve it by doing a "soft reset" of your Karazhan run. You do this by leaving the raid, and leaving the raid totally empty of any players, for 30 minutes. This cancels and resets and boss fights or encounters (such as chess). You could then re-enter after 30 mins to try again. To prevent the problem from happening in future - do not use any "dismiss" command, however they have managed to become available. Dismissing is not typically possible in the default game interface. A good way to ensure this runs smoothly, is to disable all of your addons before starting chess. I hope this sheds some light on it and helps everyone get their Tier 4 transmogs (Official Forums) Classic Feedback The posts on Reddit are my favorite, as they pretty much contradict everything said here, aside from a couple people being all doom and gloom. I agree with them in the fact that they noted people are over reacting. To be clear - we are simply encouraging conversation and discussion. We are not developers, we do not make any final decisions on Live or on Classic. I think it's more showing that you would try to shut down conversations with your big, bolded letters instead of engaging in a constructive way. If you want to try to lay out a plan to show the community why those things are things the Classic community shouldn't want, then do that. You are not the sole voice in this conversation - there are "purists" on both sides of the argument, there are people who want 1.0, those who want 1.12, those who want 1.7 so the debuff cap is 16, those who want progression. There's thousands of different opinions, and trying to shut those down in one swoop doesn't necessarily bode well for you. Like J. Allen Brack has said, our goal is to create an experience that is as close to that original World of Warcraft experience as possible. I personally do not see that as us chasing things down and reinventing the wheel, and definitely not anything that would fundamentally change how Vanilla was, but there are conversations that do need to happen, and if your only goal is to come here and try to stop them instead of participating and adding valuable input to one side or the other, then you're most likely not welcome here. This forum isn't a place to yell and scream that "BLIZZARD DOESNT KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING - HIRE NOSTALRIUS", when all we are trying to do is be transparent and make sure we're listening from the start. (Official Forums) This Week in WoW History We're taking a look back at old MMO-Champion posts and World of Warcraft news that occurred during this time in previous years. Raid Markers Before the Cataclysm, raid Leaders and raiders used Engineering flares, campfires and various other indicators while raiding to mark spots. This changed with the introduction of raid markers. These new markers came in 5 different colors and could be placed within raids by the raid leader or players with assist. The Shattering Deathwing's flight over Azeroth would bring flames and destruction to many of locations. A full preview of what the Cataclysm would bring was posted on our website in 2010. Many of the classic zones (such as Thousand Needles, Tanaris, Barrens and Stranglethorn) would be divided or revamped in patch 4.0.3a after the event known as the Shattering. Loss-of-Control Indicator Patch 5.1 brought a very nice quality-of-life change for many PvP enthusiasts. Loss-of-control debuffs were now shown in the middle of the screen indicated by the spell's icon and duration. This addition was meant to replace the popular Lose Control add-on. A few other interface options were also added, such as being able to cast abilities on key press rather than release. Additions to the Blizzard Store In 2013, the Alterac Brew-Pup was added to the Pet Store. This new companion was the new charity event pet, which meant that half of the purchase price would go to the Make-a-Wish foundation. A new mount was added alongside the addition of the pet. The Enchanted Fey Dragon was, and still is, a unique model only obtainable through the store. This mount’s special feature is its ability to shift colors patterns, a technology later used with other mounts and pets. Warlords of Draenor Goes Live The launch of Warlords has some rough points, such as unstable servers and tremendous wait times to log in. Every expansion prior to Legion had linear questing zones, which created a huge bottleneck effect of players being stuck in a zone, adding additional stress to their servers. This hiccup was quickly remedied and servers went back to normal. In subsequent expansions we saw new tech, such as zone scaling, and server sharding added to avoid another unstable launch. Cataclysm Timewalking The first weekend of Cataclysm Timewalking happened in 2015. This new event brought the usual reputation tokens, Tosselwrench's Mega-Accurate Simulation Viewfinder and Gurboggle's Gleaming Bauble. The event added six Cataclysm dungeons to the game for players to enjoy. WoW's 11th Anniversary Every year the Anniversary event featured special items and XP boosts that were only usable during the event. 2015 stood out in particular, because of the addition of the Edwin VanCleef costume, and the Inflatable Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker. Did Someone Say…? WoW Tokens to Battle.Net Balance 2016 brought one of the biggest changes to the Blizzard economy since the introduction of WoW tokens. Patch 7.1.5 gave players the choice of either adding 30 days of gametime to their account, or adding $15 currency to their Blizzard Balance. This currency could be used for any Blizzard games, thus skyrocketing the price of the WoW token across the regions. For everyone gold goblin out there, this new change meant that they could use their WoW gold to purchase other games, or in-game items such as Hearthstone packs. View the full article

  17. Season 12 Haedrig's Gift Build Suggestions Year of the Mammoth World Championship Tickets Now On Sale + Last Call Players Traditional Tier Set Bonuses Removed in Battle for Azeroth Gameinformer released an interview with Ion Hazzikostas today that stated raid sets with bonuses will be phased out for Battle for Azeroth. Raid set bonuses are being retired for BfA. Gear will be more heavily themed to the place it comes from. The team wants gear customization to be expressed through the Azerite system. Tier sets lock down character slots and limit choices. Tier has begun to feel more like a drawback with so many different sources to obtain gear today. Options from these sets will be rolled into how the Azerite system works for more customization in enhancing spells and abilities. Developer Interviews We're continuing to take a look at new information from the BlizzCon developer interviews. Method Interviews Steve Burke and Chris Robinson at Blizzcon 2017. Blizzard pays attention to what artifact appearances are the most popular and consider that in future art design. World quests and scaling technology is changing how the team creates the world in game. There are no plans currently to recreate Gadgetzan in WoW to match the Hearthstone version. The team will look at revamping faction cities only if it makes sense for the story. The hubs of BfA reflect the lessons learned from previous hubs. Allied races will add depth to classes. They will be able to be hero classes if it fits the lore. Class options for Allied Races are based on the fantasy of the class and not just which faction needs another race option for a specific class. PVP Warfronts are being talked about, but not something that has been decided on yet. Low lying fog is something that was planned for Legion but wasn’t implemented until 8.0 There will be visual updates as you progress your Heart of Azeroth. The team wants the Heart of Azeroth to feel more like the excitement and progression of the initial launch leveling of the Artifact Weapon and not so much the infinite trait artifact power dump from later in the Legion. It is possible for players to keep multiple gear pieces from the Heart of Azeroth slots to switch between for certain encounters in the game. Murlocs are not currently planned as an Allied Race. Allied Races have been completely remapped from their NPC versions to fall in line with current playable races. There are no plans currently to separate ranged dps and melee dps in the group finder, but it is possible in the future. Developer Interviews We're continuing to take a look at new information from the BlizzCon developer interviews. Automatic Jak talked to Sigma at Blizzcon 2017. The team went into Legion knowing that they might have to revisit some of the classes that received major changes once player feedback was collected. There most likely will not be complete class revamps again any time soon. Mythic dungeons are a great way to show off each class’s unique toolkit. The team likes classes having unique abilities. Going forward a big question is what unique abilities each class should have. The team wants to spread out class strength and weaknesses more. Utility will be spread out and balanced more in the future. Everyone should feel like they have some sort of cooldown to help them survive. The best thing the team can do to help showcase unique abilities is to have more variety in dungeon encounters. Talent tweaks and the future of the class artifact abilities are being looked at moving forward. The passive health increase on Artifact Weapons was essentially to also help healers heal into a set of players with higher health pools who take more damage that stays balanced with the amount of healing done. Thorns and other design elements are being experimented with more to counter the issue of healing getting boring as players get stronger. The team is pretty happy with where raid cooldowns are at now. Steady damage is important to the design of healing in encounters. Kotaku Discusses PVP with Devs Kotaku talked about the new PVP decisions with the WoW Devs. The new World PVP system allows all players to experience PVP if they want. Ion admits that the team hasn’t done a very good job in terms of World PVP and are looking to breathe new life into it with BfA. World PVP can never be 100% fair, but the pace and combat can be worked on. The team is looking into implementing the level scaling feature into World PVP as well. The team doesn’t want the sense of progression to be lost in World PVP by using the PVP templates. WoWChakra Interviews Shani Edwards and Ray Cobo WoWChakra sat down with two of WoW’s game producers. The Artifact Weapon sendoff will take place just before the expansion. There are some preliminary requirements to starting the quest chains for Allied races - such as getting exalted with highmountain tauren before you can proceed. There might be some story for the Void Elves in 7.3.5. The alliance will get to experience an epic story involving Jaina and where she has been. Jaina will have some family problems in the expansion. ”Sneaky Pete” is a rogue Island AI character that likes to wait until you engage mobs to attack you. He is a jerk. The team is hoping to start beta early next year. The goal is to have Battle for Azeroth launch before the end of 2018. BlizzPro at the World of Warcraft Press Conference BlizzPro released a video of their visit to the World of Warcraft Press conference. Other examples of Island consumables could be group “thorns” or ways to bounce mobs between each other to stun lock them. The Island AI will also hit harder than normal mobs. Some Island scenarios, mobs and abilities may only appear on higher difficulties. PVP Island Expeditions might not activate all of your PVP abilities. Professions also come into play for Island Expeditions - a miner can mine Azerite nodes faster around the islands. The emissary system might influence the way Island Expeditions are done. The team likes the idea that you build up a bank of content to do (such as emissaries) and want to use it on more features. The team likes that their will synergy choices with the different slots of the Heart of Azeroth. Higher item level gear’s abilities may have higher Azerite level requirements to unlock. Warfront events, commanders and AI choices are all random. Communities are not replacing guilds. They are simply giving players the ability to have a variety of communities in game outside of their guild. The goal is for players to be in as many communities as they want. End game raiding in BfA will play out much like Legion. A lot of old pet models were updated including chickens and cats. There is a new cat model that is fat and fuzzy. The stat squish numbers are open to player feedback. Battle for Azeroth includes a character boost. Moonkin Festival Micro-Holiday on November 12 Moonkin Festival is on Sunday! And with the Mythic Keystone system introduced in Legion™, players are encouraged to gather up four of their friends and take on even greater challenges! With each increasing level of Mythic difficulty, the health and damage of enemies increases, and at certain levels new modifiers are introduced that will require players to adapt, evolve, and work together to succeed. We’re looking forward to seeing another great round of World of Warcraft competition, and can’t wait to see students from across North America banding together against the Legion! Developer Interviews We're continuing to take a look at new information from the BlizzCon developer interviews. Lost Codex Tweets Zandalari Druid Confirmation The Lost Codex tweeted a portion of their interview. Zandalari Trolls have druids as a class option. Their travel form is a raptor. The Starting Zone Podcast Interviews Chris Robinson and Jeremy Feasel The Starting Zone Podcast scored an interview with Chris Robinson and Jeremy Feasel. The team thinks Warfronts will take a little more time than islands to complete. Islands are a major evolution of the Pandaria scenarios with higher difficulty spikes. A seafaring vendor will show up on your docks every day that sells Island consumables & power-ups that fill in some holes for your spec. An arms warrior could purchase consumables to become more of a tank for the island run. A mage could purchase consumables to be sort of a healing mage for the island run. Highmountain Tauren druid forms have moose antlers. Death magic and witchcraft are a big part of the Kul Tiras storyline. The team wanted to explore a flourishing troll civilization. Unique mounts, pets and other items will be rewarded from Islands. The team doesn’t want Azerite to feel extremely grindy. Losing in Island content still rewards a payout, but slightly smaller than winning. There is no set amount of different Island variations at launch, but it’s a lot! The new AI for Islands/Warfronts behaves nothing like current WoW AI. Spellbreakers and Phoenix Mages (caster/healer hybrid) are two specs you could see with Blood Elf Island AI opponents. Island AI can even resurrect team members that you take down. Islands have a 30 sec auto-resurrect spot similar to Battlegrounds for when you die. PC Gamer Interviews Ion and Alex PC Gamer sat down with the WoW devs. Warfronts could have some things in the maps to reflect the winning side. The team is willing to permanently change the old world where it makes sense. The Burning of Teldrassil and the Siege of the Uncercity will be intro events. There might be PVP quests that have you hunt high value targets for rewards on the PVP enabled shards. The team can shard players in PVP shards with others of the same level range to avoid players getting one-shot. Leveling the Heart of Azeroth will be relevant the entire expansion. Internal testing of Islands and the new AI has been a lot of fun. PC Gamer Covers WoW Classic Announcement PC Gamer also sat down with J. Allen Brack to discuss Classic servers. Classic became possible because the team discovered a way for it to run on modern infrastructure. Classic servers will not have the features added to current WoW such as Dungeon Finder. Eurogamer Talks to the J. Allen Brack Eurogamer sat down with Brack to talk about Classic servers. The team ran old school Scholomance with the Nostalrius build. They have some infrastructure stuff in place and a build up and running for reference. The main part of the job is the infrastructure before tackling the design questions. No development will be taken away from Battle for Azeroth for Classic. A new team is being hired for this project. Brack can’t say whether it will be months or years for the release. Some players will return just for a nostalgia trip. The team wants to provide a constant social connection and community. These servers have full commitment now and will not be ditched if they are not popular. Blizzard has maintained contact with Nostralius and are considering involving some of their team in the process. Digital Trends Discusses Classic Servers with Brack and Feasel Digital Trends also got to interview J. Allen Brack and Jeremy Feasel on the Classic announcement. Blizzard wants the launch experience of Classic to be smooth and successful. The experience will be as identical to Vanilla WoW as possible, but they are not sure at which point in the patch life cycle of the original game it will take place. The team wants to create a Blizzard-quality experience of the original game. GameSpot Speaks with John Height about Classic Servers John Height answered some questions for GameSpot about the classic servers. Team members who worked on the original game have been consulted, but resources are not being taken from the current game. This Week in WoW History We're taking a look back at old MMO-Champion posts and World of Warcraft news that occurred during this time in previous years. New Companions The models for two new companion pets were found on the PTR. Lil’ Ragnaros, and the Moonkin Hatchling were the new additions to the game. These pets are available for purchase through the Blizzard Pet Store, and remain available even today. The Moonkin Hatchling was the new charitable pet, with sales helping a good cause for a limited time. Sandstone Drake In 2010, during a preview of professions in Cataclysm the Vial of the Sands was discovered. This was the newest profession mount available for crafting in game. Unlike the tailoring or engineering mounts, this could be traded and used by anyone. Its most notable feature was the spot for a passenger while transformed. The Darkmoon Faire Patch 4.3 introduced some new content in the game, which is still active, and expanding in today’s patches. The Darkmoon Faire hit the PTR with a variety of activities, and numerous collectable items such as mounts, pets, transmog, heirlooms, and cosmetic items. The faire provided multiple profession specific quests, as well as chances for PvP, and carnival games. Recruit-a-Friend Updated The Recruit-a-Friend program got updated in 2013, adding the Emerald Hippogryph, amongst other mounts such as the Heart of the Nightwing, X-53 Touring Rocket, and Swift Zhevra to the game. For pet lovers, the Golden Pig, Silver Pig, Jade Tiger, and Zipao Tiger are also rewards for recruiting new players to the game. This new program also allowed players to earn triple experience, as long as the characters leveled together. 25. Double Treasure Goblin Is Event Live! Upcoming Visual Change to Legendary Cards Patch 7.3.5 - New Features While Patch 7.3.5 has yet to hit the PTR, we did find out some of the features it includes. Old World Zone Scaling Racial Starting Zones - 1 to 10 Classic Zones - 10 to 60 Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King Zones - 60 to 80 Cataclysm and Mists of Pandaria Zones - 80 to 90 Warlords of Draenor Zones - 90 to 100 Legion Zones - 100 to 110 Ulduar Timewalking Raid New Seething Shore Battleground Horde and Alliance will face off in Silithus for the Azerite bubbling to the surface. Fight for dynamically shifting points across the map. Stormwind and Orgrimmar Updates in Battle for Azeroth Ian Bates (Red Shirt Guy) has released a blog post on Blizzplanet detailing some interesting info from the BfA BlizzCon demo. Each city will now have an embassy linked to the recruitment of Allied Races. The Orgrimmar embassy resides in what was the Goblin Slums. The Stormwind embassy is behind the Dwarven District. Sylvanas Windrunner, Varok Saurfang, Baine Bloodhoof, Lady Liadrin, Rokhan, Lor’themar Theron, Trade Prince Gallywix, Ji Firepaw, Eitrigg, and Nathanos Blightcaller reside in the Orgrimmar Embassy. Saurfang, Baine and Nathanos each have a brand new model. The Stormwind Embassy contains Anduin Wrynn, Turalyon, Alleria Windrunner, Tyrande Whisperwind, Velen, Genn Greymane, High Tinker Mekkatorque, Muradin Bronzebeard, Aysa Cloudsinger, and Wrathion. Wrathion isn't standing next to the others. When visiting these locations, the faction leaders in both places discuss finding allies for the war and eventually ask you to pick a race to go after. Currently Horde could only choose between Highmountain Tauren and the Nightborne. Alliance could select Void Elves or Lightforged Draenei. Developer Interviews We're continuing to take a look at new information from the BlizzCon developer interviews. PCGamesN Interview with Ion Hazzikostas PCGamesN was able to sit down with Ion Hazzikostas. The hard modes will be preserved for Ulduar timewalking in 7.3.5. Vanilla content scales to 60. Potential to add the old world zones as a Timewalking event. Jessie Cox Interview Jessie Cox sat down on the show floor with Ion Hazzikostas. Vol’jin’s physical manifestation is dead, but we likely haven’t seen the last of his spirit. Thrall may have Vol’jin’s urn. Minute one of the new expansion takes place right after the cinematic. Allied races fit with the theme of this expansion. Warfronts are “raid vs army” instead of “raid vs giant boss.” Heavily built up faction hubs in BfA High Elves are pretty much Blood Elves and so it’s unlikely they will be a playable race. No third faction is planned Uldir is a traditional troll raid with slight Old God/Titan themes. No plans for account bound item stash right now but it’s a good idea, especially for crafting materials. Gear slots affected by the Heart of Azeroth (head, shoulder, chest) will not Warforge/Titanforge. The patch cycle will be similar to Legion. A separate team is doing World of Warcraft: Classic. World of Wacraft: Classic will take a lot of community feedback. Pacing and requirements to unlocking flying are subject to tweaks. Kezan is not currently planned to be more than a dungeon. There are no current plans for Gnome Paladins. Rolling Stone Interview Rolling Stones talked to the WoW Devs. The team likes the story to flow from one expansion to the next instead of in previous ones where a completely different story popped up between each of them. The team wants to give something to every playstyle in every expansion. BfA is more about the story and improving systems rather than making major gameplay changes. Polygon Interview with WoW Devs Polygon sat down with the WoW Devs. Void elves will have a short-range teleport as a racial. The team is thinking about bringing the faction conflict into dungeons and raids. BfA is also about the world dying beneath our feet. Progression of the Heart of Azeroth is not spec specific like the artifact weapons. DigitalTrends Interview with Muffinus Digtaltrends interviewed Jeremy Feasel. (AKA Muffinus) Warfronts let you contribute to victory in any way you want. You can focus on combat while someone else can go chop wood or mine ore. Existing characters are now front and center to the story. Blizzplanet Interview Blizzplanet sat down with Muffinus as well. You will have to finish Legion to figure out Illidan’s future. Bwonsamdi (the Loa of death) plays a major role in Zandalar. Blood Trolls are under the servitude of a powerful new creature that you will meet in the very first raid of this expansion. Uldir only has one of its three seals remaining on it. During the course of the expansion, you are going to find out what happens to that last seal. Drust people were a society wiped out in Drustvar that now exists as spirits trying to work their way back into the world. Another random event in Warfronts could be major figures such as Jaina showing up and rallying the raid to help her fight to take over a point. Vanion Interview with Muffinus Vanion also interviewed Muffinus. The ending cinematic to Antorus is epic and will answer a lot of lingering questions while raising new ones. GameSpot Interviews John Height GameSpot interviews John Height. The burning of Teldrassil is the event that causes the Alliance to lay siege to the Undercity. Anduin’s moment in the cinematic is him realizing what he is really about, healing over fighting. BfA is a more personal story instead of a “big bad” one. There will still be zones that are 1-20 to get new players acclimated. Hotted & Asmongold Interview Hotted and Asmongold also did an interview. No plans for more solo challenge content like the mage tower in BfA but it’s definitely a possibility. New World PVP systems should even out Horde and Alliance on PVP shards. Small revamps to existing PVP talents to keep rotations similar between PVE and PVP. Team is talking about adding Mythic + to old world dungeons, but not yet planned for BfA. No current plans for Mythic + raids. 4 difficulty options for raids will continue in BfA. No change to mythic raid size. Not looking to add a ton of new abilities to classes, but this could change. Jeff Kaplan Weighs in on World of Warcraft: Classic Jeff Kaplan was asked about classic WoW servers by r/overwatch. Here is a quick recap: Thinks it's a great idea. It's the sense of community that made classic WoW great. Lack of systems such as server transfer led to building a reputation, good or bad, on your server. It was not the quests he designed that made the game great. Game design isn't black and white. Players need to also look at what they are giving up when asking for things.
