  1. video:

This is a decent how-to video for hunters made by the same guy who created the Warmaster one. In fact, he has videos for every heroic boss fight on his channel -> worth checking out.

Combining some of my own thoughts with info you get in this guide - here are the basics for hunters:

    Valor Point Trinket:

[Kiroptyric Sigil] (this forum wont allow me to edit my link options, so you will just have to click on it)

It has a 90 second cooldown and gives you almost 2300 extra Agility for 15 seconds, almost covering the whole time a tendon is up and available to be burned. This will give a nice boost to tendon DPS, the only (most important) thing that really matters here. Due to the low CD, it will be up for all 6 burn phases. If we do not have any trouble burning tendons down, then it will not be as important anymore. Your call.

    Macros

Lots of target swapping, lots of opportunity to squeeze in extra shots with quick swapping.

    /tar Hideous
Targets nearest Amalgamation. This one can help, especially if there are dozens of bloods running around.
    /tar Corruption
We will most likely be responsible for Grip breaking. If you are very good at looking at the timers and managing your shot-cooldowns, you could make use of this macro:
    /tar Corruption

    /cast Explosive Shot
You will want to hit this macro about 0.5 seconds before a grip is happening. It will instantly target it and send an Explosive Shot (if off cd). The tick of the shot as well as your follow-up Arcane Shot will help immensely with breaking the grip. Most important Macro is the Burning Tendon Macro:

    /target boss2 #targets the tendon

    /petattack

/cast Dash #if not on CD, dDash is cast so your pet gets to the target more quickly

/use 13 #13 stands for the first trinket slot, 14 would be the second

/cast Hunter's Mark #obviously only one hunter needs to do this

You can bind many more things into this, like your personal cooldowns or the use of a potion. If anything is on CD, it simply won't be used and jumps to the next item in the list. Let's make sure only one hunter actually casts Hunter's Mark. What this macro does is target the tendon, send the pet in, uses the Sigil trinket and puts Hunter's Mark on the tendon - instantly. This will greatly improve uptime on the tendon and damage done to it. Here is another macro:
    /cancelaura Parachute

Hit this right when the encounter starts, so your pet can go on to a Corruption immediately and help taking them down faster. Usually I just send my pet on the third kill target (as well as a Black Arrow) and leave it there, while burning down the other two targets.

In the video he suggests putting your "free to spend" talent tree points into Point of No Escape. For this fight, it actually makes sense and will probably help a little bit (if you are good with constantly having a Ice Trap down), but that is completely up to you and likely won't make or break our success on this boss.

There are a few more specific tips to increase your DPS in the video - just check it out and pick out what you think might be useful for you. Some of it depends on what strategy we use.

Feel free to add stuff to this topic as you see fit.

  2. Well yeah - it really all depends on the scaling factors, doesn't it? But where to take those numbers from? You might just be right with that.

In the end it wont make any noticeable difference taking one over the other.

Funny thing - just checked 3 Blood Legion Hunters.. all of them have agi over crit on Gloves. Either it really does not matter, or there are some factors we are not thinking about. I certainly do not trust simcraft.

  3. Hello guys. I had some time at work, so I figured I would check out our raiding Hunters talents, glyphs and reforges - to maybe highlight areas of improvement or simply get some ideas for my own hunter. I looked at Sazda, Snugglbunny, Darkhuntar and Lampray.

    Talents:

All of us are using a standard 3/7/31 build, with slight variations of 2 points in the SV tree.

Point of no Escape: Lampray and Darkhuntar (increased 6% crit on targets effected by ice/freezing trap)

Hunter vs. Wild: Snugglebunny (increased 10% stamina)

Survival Tactics: Sazda (reduced trap resist by 4% reduced disengage cd by 4s)

Imo these 2 points are pretty optional. I personally decided to go with the reduced disengage cd, because I can use it in many situations. I found that I do not throw any AoE ice traps in DS (ever), so that talent is absolutely worthless for me. As worthless seems the stamina buff. If I die in a raid, the reason will never be that I did not have that talent. Either way - in the end this will not really make any difference.

    Glyphs:

Here is what our Hunters have:

Sazda - Explosive Shot, Arcane Shot, Serpent Sting

Snuggle - Explosive Shot, Arcane Shot, Serpent Sting

Dark - Explosive Shot, Arcane Shot, Serpent Sting

Lamp - Explosive Shot, Arcane Shot, Kill Shot

The glyph ranking is as follows:

Explosive Shot = must have glyph

Arcane Shot (with 2 piece T13) = must have glyph

Those two are the clear winners. For the third glyph, you got to decide between Serpent Sting and Kill Shot glyph.

Serpent Sting - 6% crit to each SS. SV gets more out of that glyph than other hunter specs due to mastery and the Toxicology talent.

Kill Shot - allows to shoot 2 Kill Shots in a row.

Especially with reforging to mastery, being SV and having so many AoE situations in DS - SS seems to be the clear winner to me. Very often, even if I wanted to, I would not be able to fire 2 Kill Shots in a row, because that would mess up my rotation. I suggest you switch to Serpent Sting Glyph Lamp and see your dps improve on AoE fights (and not change or even improve on others).

    Major and Minor Glyphs:

There is a lot more room for these ones obviously (and will be even more in MoP). But there are some that are preferred over others. Here is what our raiding hunters currently have:

Sazda - Disengage, Mending, Raptor Strike and Feign Death, Scare Beast, Revive Pet

Snug - Misdirect, Mending, Trap Launcher and Feign Death, Aspect of the Pack, Revive Pet

Dark - Disengage, Misdirect, Ice Trap and Feign Death, Lesser Proportion, Revive Pet

Lamp - Disengage, Mending, Trap Launcher and none

Looking at it from a raiding perspective only, you definitely want to use Disengage. Misdirect on the other hand (raids only) does not help at all. There are no other glyphs that help a raiding hunter except Raptor Strike and Trap Launcher. So the suggestion would be that raiding hunters use Disengage, Raptor Strike and Trap Launcher. However, those effects are so minor - that using glyphs that help in sutations outside of the raid (like MD or Mending) really is completely fine as well. For the Minor Glyphs, there is nothing that will help during raiding except maybe Revive Pet. So take whatever.

    Reforging:

As SV hunter with T13 bonus you want to reforge into Crit. If that is not possible, you want to reforge into Mastery. Haste is your worst stat now (as opposed to BM and MM). Obviously you need 8% hit. If anone of you wants me to look at your exact reforging to see if I would do something differently (and why), just let me know here. Just glancing at everyones stats, it seems more or less solid.

    Exception:

Snuggle - you are at 7.28% hit. Forgot to reforge something?

    Enchants:

    Everything looks fine, except here:

Lampray - Greater Critical Strike on back is better than Major Agility

Darkhuntar - Greater Agility on gloves is much better than Haste

Snuggle - Greater Agility on gloves is also better than Greater Mastery

The rest of the enchants seem ok (Assassin's Step versus Major Agility is up to each one of your playstyles to decide what suits you better). For me (and Snugg), Assassin's Step seems miles ahead of the little Agility boost.

All in all, our hunters pass the raid test with only few exceptions that should be fixed.

  4. i suppose everyone here has most of the icc achievements done already?

Sazda has never been in ICC and I would like to do one run and do all achievements some day. Figured i would just do a openraid thingy.. but if there are more people interested here, we could through together something.

Either way - if you need help Zommbie, I will surely try to be there. Just send me a message.

  5. The comp changes pretty much every week (unfortunately) - so we adjust the strat each time.

Last night we had to 2-tank because of it. 2 weeks before we were able to 1-tank.

    Let's see:

    P1:

The IDEA is to drop the traps as far back in the center as possible. We usually have 3 traps - 1 is supposed to stay up in the back, the rest are triggered by either mage/hunter or whoever is suited for that.

    some problems encountered here:

    - people standing too close to traps and being knocked into them from ragnaros's knockback

    - people not making an effort to drop the traps in the back, so we end up with all traps in the middle of the room

    - traps not being triggered for DPS purposes - so we end up with 2 traps next to one another in the middle of the room

    - oh: and people being hit by the lava waves cause they simply do not pay attention

    1st Intermission:

Killing sons of flame. Usually we have the group split up in two - with each group having a floater depending on how many and where the sons spawn relativ to the hammer. We do not assign specific adds to specific people. Rather we have the DPS on each side work it out between one another. The idea is to hit all adds down to around 50% and then switch to another - so they are all slowed asap. We also try to keep one alive for a little bit so we have more time before the next phase.

    some problems encountered here:

    - adds being completely unattended and running straight into the hammer (often its the one running from all the way back through the lava)

    - switches (floaters) being called but other dps does not adjust - resulting in unattended adds

    - people plain simply being on the wrong side (i believe some people do not see the animation that shows where the hammer will land)

    P2:

Molten Seeds. One of our biggest problem areas. We stack on one pre designated spot (to make it bullet proof its always the same spot). Molten Seeds spawn and to ENSURE we all have the same countdown, we have one raidmember post a macro saying "MOVE NOW" as raid warning. People are supposed to move once they see the macro.

    problems:

    - people not moving fast enough or sooooometimes waaay too early (not waiting for macro) resulting in them being hit by seed explosions and being killed

    Dancing:

We used to have people constantly die during the dancing phases. I suspect that happens because they do not get the idea that SURVIVAL >>> DPS. I guess its easier as hunter - dunno - but I barely EVER get hit by even one tick of those waves. I am sure if you understand that survival is most important and when yo uknow WHERE to stand, many/all other classes could have the same result.

    Intermission:

Same as above including scion tanking.

    P3:

Simply burning Rag down and watching out for meteors. Best case scenario would be to simply push the meteors into the lava and keep them there. Not much of a strategy here - just avoid mechanics and burn Rag.

    problems:

    - what you would expect: people standing too close to meteors and someone else pushing it right into a group or single person from the other side.

    P4:

We have not have had enough attempts in P4 to really get a strategy down. The basic idea is to do what any written strategy guide suggests.

  6. In order to try to get this group into a better shape, I have made a post on openraid.us:

    http://www.openraid.us/index.php/users/raid/5555

The goal is to find some strong players who will help us get the kill next week.

    As you can see here:

    http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/rt-46z6wuo7jy6ajxvw/sum/damageDone/

Our DPS also was pretty bad last night... not that it matters much, but if people are not able to stop their one and only add from hitting the hammer - something has to be done. We need more people who have done this before and know how to avoid mechanics (we still had people begin hit by the lava wave!!!). After a few tries, everyone was kind of standing wherever (instead of spawning traps in the back) which caused us more problems.

What I would like to see:

Let us make an effort and get online at 7.30pm sharp, so we can start the invites at that time and have enough time to figure out who we want to add.

oh and yeah - you do not have to sign up on the webpage of openraid in order to be invited... that is mainly for people from other realms to have a way of joining us.

  7. Thank you for your application. However, you failed to post this in the correct section of these forums. Furthermore, you did not provide sufficient information for us to consider this a serious raid application and therefor have to deny your request. When you feel up to the task, please fill out a proper application in the appropriate forums and it shall be discussed in a timely manner. That will be all.
