  1. The comic contest is back! If you’ve ever read the Sunday morning funny pages, then you already know what to do. Make a comic that will split our sides (a little artistic skill doesn't hurt either...) and you may be among one of three winners chosen every other month. We'll display the winners proudly on our websites and send their creators a good-as-cash gift card. We’re opening the contest up to all Blizzard Entertainment franchises, so you can now create a fun, silly, or interesting comic based on the themes and characters from the Warcraft, Diablo, or StarCraft universes to enter. For details, or to submit your entry, hit up the official View the full article
  2. Q u o t e: I'm receiving an error when I try to submit a form to the Print contest (it just takes me to the typical 404 page). This error with submissions should now be fixed. Thanks for your patience. View the full article

  5. It's a question you've been asking us for a little while now. And, based on all the posts, emails, petitions, and letters we received following the announcement that the Insane in the Membrane achievement would no longer be in available in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, we started to wonder if maybe we had gone a bit loco. So, we went back to the drawing board. After carefully reviewing all the feedback and discussing the matter amongst ourselves, we're now happy to report that we will be making the following changes to the Feat of Strength: Exalted reputation with Shen'dralar will no longer be required. As this is the only reputation that will be unobtainable in Cataclysm, we've simply decided to remove it as a requirement. For those who already earned Exalted reputation with this faction, don't worry -- we haven't forgotten about your accomplishments. In a future patch, we'll be adding in a separate Feat of Strength to recognize your deep love of Dire Maul. Bloodsail Buccaneer faction reputation will remain in-game. Also, to ensure that this change does not negatively affect Cataclysm quest progression in Stranglethorn Vale, Booty Bay Bruisers will now provide reputation up through Exalted. This will ensure that players will still be able to attain Insane in the Membrane and "The Insane" title in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. Please note, however, that these changes will not take effect until The Shattering in patch 4.0.3a -- excluding the separate "Exalted with Shen'dralar" feat, which will be introduced in a future, but currently-undetermined patch. And, of course, those who are already Insane in the Membrane will retain their title and current Feat of Strength. Shine on, you crazy diamonds. 9. Q u o t e: so i was handing in the quest [Alert Our Leaders] and when you talk to Garrosh it says <The warchief listens as you tell of your investigation into the Twilight's Hammer plot to destroy Orgrimmar> You are a dutiful member.. bla bla bla.... so does this mean he is the warchief already? Garrosh has recently been handed the position. I'd say more, but I don't want to spoiler things in game. It might be a good idea to hang out in Grommash Hold for a bit just to listen in on what the leaders have been discussing. In addition, you may want to check out the new novel that was released (written by Christie Golden) The Shattering: A Prelude to Cataclysm to learn even more (if you are interested in doing so.) 10. We'll be keeping an eye on things here and on the new forums for reports of issues that need to be corrected on the new site. Feel free to let us know here (if you don't have access to the new forums) of the issues you're running into, and we'll do our best to get those reported and to get them corrected. 14. Q u o t e: I'm curious. The new community site is being developed. What is being done to improve the quality of player most. The forums right now are often riddled with ridiculous trolling in both new threads and in response to threads. I'm sure this threat will be trolled but I am still curious These new forums will be available "soonerino" and I'm glad you asked. While we obviously can't mind control everyone or force anyone to make certain sorts of posts, we CAN encourage you all to report those that violate the forum Code of Conduct AND we can also encourage you all to uprate or downrate posts you like or don't like. By doing so, you can bring to light the posts you see as better quality or help hide the ones you feel just don't cut it. Keep in mind though, it's just a tool to be used, and it's up to you all to use it. View the full article

  16. Q u o t e: But this isn't the way Blizzard approaches it. Simply put, and I know a lot of players do understand this, you aren't part of a community, and you're not even really a 'personal' customer like someone at a restaurant. You lost me right there. This is a community of people and we believe that every voice matters. Whether we agree or not with those voices bears no weight on whether or not we care about what someone has to say. 17. Q u o t e: Blues and Greens, how do you guys manage to put up with the massive numbers of complaints, insults and what not for over so many years on the forums? It's nothing short of amazing if you ask me. We like people. We like helping people. We like our company and those we work with. When we feel a bit "burnt out" we take little breaks and work on other things (though that's not too often we feel the need.) And, we also see a lot of positive discussions and feedback as well both on the forums and when we get to meet with people in person (such as at BlizzCon) that counteracts any more negative issues. As I have repeated many times too, it's important to remember that even people that post angrily or who are upset about things are doing so because they are passionate about what we are doing. It's when they stop posting, that there is probably a much larger issue because their apathy has won. That's not saying that we like seeing negative or angry posts, we'd much rather try to get people to be constructive about what they are telling us by getting them to tell us the "why" of their dislike or disagreement for what we're doing. 18. People can level as fast or as slow as they like. There are many factors that come into play when looking at the rate of leveling such as the amount of time people are playing or what activities they are taking part in. That said, the idea of leveling to 80 (and soon) 85 can be very daunting to some people. We want to make the process as painless and fun as possible. The same could be said for getting people who wish to have alts a means to do so. There are ways people can slow down their pace if they like (if they want to smell the peacebloom more) by turning off experience too, if they really want to. We just don't want people to be so daunted by the level cap that they feel completely excluded. There are plenty of other things they'll want to do (hopefully) at those upper levels anyway. It sounds like if they are all playing together, that they are sure to find those things out together too. View the full article
  19. Q u o t e: Civil wars give brother a better reason to fight brother than what Aunt Nan said about our Neville last Hogswatch. -paraphrase of a Terry Pratchett line. Most compelling read of the day! View the full article
  20. Q u o t e: Never played during the launch of any MMO or expansion--I have always shown up weeks late. From what I hear though, launching a MMO or expansion = instant death. Is there honestly ANY chance of playing the game come Dec. 7? As a bunch of people are mentioning, things have gone pretty well in the last couple of expansions. We have learned a lot since we launched the game 6 years ago. There have been some latency issues in the past, but that is often tied to how many people are in your direct vicinity and it improves as players progress and spread out. We have improved spawning timing and such so even if a lot of players are doing the same quests they can be done in a reasonable amount of time. Things can always go wrong, but it should be playable. Oh, and if you are on a PvP server, be ready to fight for those quests. View the full article
  21. Q u o t e: Just be aware that this is also going to affect the speed of leveling in PVE. It's actually largely geared toward PvE fight length as well. View the full article
